Welcome to LA the land of 50 billion cars

The flight into Ontario was quite enjoyable because, my good friend and sorority sister was flying in with me from Memphis; but it was also quite draining due to the fact that I woke up at 3 am central time for my flight. Flying into L.A. area for the first time I was shocked by the extreme vastness of the land we were flying over. At some points it looked rather inhabitable and truly bare. One thing that stood out was the huge windmill electricity capturing posts. Even from the plane they appeared to be ginormous.

Upon arriving, our local classmate was waiting for us at baggage claim. The trip has officially begun! We picked up our other friend and class mate and headed to Santa Monica for the day. From ONT, it took us probably 45 minutes to get to the pier and park. I was amazed by how great it felt outside today (perfect sunny and 70)! We ate a quick meal at the end of the pier which was the perfect way to start our trip. We enjoyed our waiter’s take on our southern accents and science interests.

We got back into the truck and opened our maps to discover that it was going to take 3 hours to make it back to ONT then riverside. I have never experienced traffic like this, it is honestly horrible! So, needless to say, we were very exhausted by the time we made it back to Riverside; but we had so much fun on this first day, it makes the traffic worth sitting through! See you tomorrow, xoxo.
